I had a fluid check today, and thank goodness it looked fine. I have another one tomorrow, so it better stay put! The baby still looks good – good heart, good umbilical dopplers, and he’s practicing breathing.

I, on the other hand, have been stressed. Last night and two nights before that, I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible lower abdominal pain and tightening. I should explain that I’ve had low pain and tightening since about 21 weeks, and it has never seemed to change my cervix or anything. But the pain has really gotten a lot worse. Last night I dreamed I was in labor, timing my contractions. When I woke up, I was having a low contraction and such pain! I hobbled to the bathroom. Changing positions seemed to help a little, but not tons. Obvviously I was not in labor, because it all went away. But it’s disconcerting to think, in the moment, that this might be it. Doctors don’t know what to make of it. They say maybe it’s Braxton Hicks. They say maybe it’s a full bladder or bowel. They say maybe it’s movement or growth. I suppose if I had to guess, I’d say Braxton Hicks. The tightening is only way down low, not up above. I never experienced this in my first pregnancy. Is this familiar to anyone? Is it a sign?

In any case. my high-risk doctor told me that I am a rock star, hanging out this long. She is an excellent doctor with a great bedside manner, always cheering me up. I hope I can hang around till 32 weeks, but with all the pain lately I feel less confident. We”ll see.

I am pregnant with my second one right now, and I know exactly thise feeling of which you speak. I had a section with my last, so they attribute it to scarring of the uterus fibers, but the midwife says it happens to peole who have had vaginal births as well. The uterus just has a harder time stretching the second or third time around, and it causes pain as the baby grows. Apparently it is to be no big deal, just extremly uncomfy and annoying.

You are handling this all so well. I am so amazed at how long you have been able to keep the little man in there. Just awhile longer, who knows maybe he’ll be glad to stay put till 36 weeks 🙂 And congrats on a third boy, boys are my favorite!

My water broke at about 30 weeks with my second child. I hung on for 2 weeks and went into labor. He spent under a month at a low level NICU and then came home. He is now a healthy normal 3 year old. You are doing great! Hang in there!
